Xiaolin is a respected Chinese Contemporary Figurative Painter. He studied painting at the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, then later mural painting at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, before teaching at the School Of Fine Arts at Guizhou Normal University. His work is an extraordinary mixture of fantasy, eroticism and humanism. In many of his oil paintings, natural scenery provides a tantalizing setting to intimate sexual acts or sexual postures in the foreground. He has ingeniously correlated a bodily landscape with a natural one. In traditional Chinese literature and art, the garden was often depicted as an ideal setting for love-making and erotic fantasy. Chinese erotica are a source of great aesthetic inspiration and pleasure. He began exhibiting in group shows in Beijing from the latest 1980s as part of the National Art Exhibition, hosted by the China Art Museum. He also participated in several group shows at major galleries in Nanjing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Suzhou, Guangzhou and Wuhan. He has also held solo exhibitions in Kaohsiung & Taipei (Taiwan), Frankfurt, Seoul, & Sydney (Ray Hughes Gallery).
This large, powerful painting was exhibited at the Ray Hughes Gallery in Sydney in 2007, and comes directly from his personal estate!!
