Fred was a respected American Abstract Expressionist. He studied art at the Art Institute of Chicago where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts 1951 and a Master of Fine Arts 1953. He soon moved to McAllen, Texas and exhibited at the Dallas Museum of Art, Witte Museum, San Antonio; Joslyn Art Museum, Omaha; Denver Art Museum; Mulvane Art Museum & the Hertzberg Gallery, San Antonio among others. He was a faculty chairman at the Art Institute of San Antonio 1963-1964. Conducted seminars at the Laredo Art Association 1964, 71,78. The Hill Country Arts Foundation in Ingram, Texas from 1963 through the early 80's; Laredo Art Asamesa Art Leagues; Lubbock Art Association; San Antonio Watercolor Society; Carrizo Lodge, Ruidoso, NM.; Houston Watercolor Society; Laguna Gloria Museum, Austin, Texas; Professor of Art San Miguel, Mexico. In 1968 Fred completed a very large mural at the 1968 Hemisphere World Fair in San Antonio, Texas, commissioned by my uncle Gene Treiber, a Building Contractor in San Antonio.
