Rudnay is a revered Hungarian painter and printmaker. Starting in 1893 at the School of Applied Arts in Budapest, he continued his studies in Munich at the free school of Simon Hollósy. He went to Nagybánya in the summer and trained in Rome and Paris. After returning home, in 1905, he went to Hódmezővásárhely, where he became close friends with János Tornyai. During the First World War, he painted in and around Losonc, depicting the lives of those fleeing the horrors of war and the drama of the escape. From 1922, he taught at the College of Fine Arts for thirty years. In 1947, he organized an artist colony and painting school in Baja.
