Rees is a famous Australian Painter & printmaker. He trained at the Central Technical College in Brisbane before starting work as a commercial artist in 1917. He was best known as a leading landscape artist and Neo-Impressionist, a founding member of the important Northwood Group of painters, winning the prestigious Wynne Prize twice. In his later years, he was a mentor to a young Brett Whiteley, who idolised Rees. His works are represented in every Major National Gallery in Australia, and is regularly referred to as one of Australia's most influential 20th century artists. Rees completed several paintings of the construction of the Sydney Opera House, including this view completed in 1966. This limited edition, hand-signed screenprint was produced in 1983, one of only 150.
