Laurence Scott Pendlebury was an award-winning Australian Painter. Pendlebury attended the National Gallery of Victoria Art School from 1932 to 1938. While there, in 1936, he met fellow artist, Eleanor Constance "Nornie" Gude. Pendlebury has won the Wynne Prize for a landscape painting, four times, and he qualified as a finalist, twenty-four times, in the Archibald Prize by painting portraits of notable Australians. His art work was presented in the state galleries of New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria, and his work is represented at the National Gallery Of Victoria.
 
This large work, possibly the first double-portrait admitted as a finalist in the Archibald Prize depicts Pendlebury's two children Andrew (lead guitarist & songwriter for the popular Aussie band 'The Sports') and Anne (respected stage, film & TV actress, best known as longtime cast-member of 'Neighbours').
