Payne was one of Australia’s best known illustrators in the 1920s and 30s, and was among the nation’s highest paid women. She exhibited at the Queensland Art Society before studying overseas in London (as a student of Frank Brangwyn) & Paris (L’Ecole des Beaux Arts). Frank spent most of her professional life in Sydney illustrating catalogues for David Jones Ltd and Farmer & Co. Ltd department stores. She also drew covers for the ‘Australian Woman’s Mirror’ and contributed to “The Bulletin” magazine. One of her works featured on Antiques Roadshow in the UK. In 2020, her re cord was smashed with "Girl Reading By A Window" (1927) (image 2) selling for almost $AU10.5k (incl. BP).
