Paul was a respected, pioneering female Abstract Expressionist. Educated at the University of New England and University of Queensland, she studied under important Australian mid-century painters, Stanislaus Rapotec, Desiderius Orban and Lawrence Daws, before being involved in the first wave of Australian female abstract expressionists in the mid 1960s. She exhibited widely throughout Australia and the USA and her work is represented in several major galleries including the Tasmanian Museum & Art Gallery. Another work from this series, 'Demolition' (1965) of the same size is in the Grafton Regional Art Gallery permanent collection... I love the subtle raw, earthy, calming palette reflecting late afternoon in the Australian Outback.
