Olszanski was a prominent Polish-born Australian Abstract Artist. He studied art in Poland before serving with the British Army in India and Europe during the second World War. After the war, he studied at the Royal Academy School in Rome 1945-47 before leaving for Australia in 1948. He first exhibited with the influential Merioola Group in Sydney and later at Clune Galleries and David Jones Gallery. He was art director at David Jones and director of the David Jones Gallery 1950-59. His works are represented in several important institutions, particularly the Art Gallery Of NSW, who acquired three of his works.Best known for his colourful semi-abstract paintings, this large, colourful oil mixed media was completed during the peak of his popularity, shortly before he passed away.
