Thanh Binh is a famous Vietnamese Contemporary artist. He studied painting at Ho Chi Minh City Fine Art University and became well known for his works depicting female figures wearing the white Ao Dai dress. As one of the famous “gang of five” painters -South East Asia’s most successful and celebrated artists, he draws inspiration from classical music and Japanese poetry to create meaningful canvases based on simple, but well-executed brush strokes. His paintings are poetic and perhaps romantic, and at the same time. Although Thanh Binh has been influenced by western art and its aesthetics, his art falls well within the philosophical and aesthetic sphere of Asia. Thanh Binh has staged several solo and group exhibitions in Vietnam and overseas such as Hong Kong, Tokyo, Dubai, Miami, New York, London and Paris, and is part of several important International Collections... This beautiful piece comes from a prominent Sydney collection, originally acquired from a gallery in Hanoi, Vietnam.
