John Drummond Moore was an acclaimed, award-winning Australian artist, architect and interior designer. A product of the Sydney Grammar School, he trained at the Julian Ashton Art School, Polytechnic School of Art and the Architectural Association School in London. On his return to Sydney he started his own architecture practise, specializing in domestic designs, which he balanced with his artistic endeavours as a skilled painter.  A fellow of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects and an associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects, he was also a member of the Contemporary Group of Sydney and was classed among such 'moderns' as Rah Fizelle and Margaret Preston. He was a founding member of the Australian Watercolour Institute, vice-president of the Society of Artists and won the Sulman Prize in 1937. He is represented in all National gallery collections, specifically the Art Gallery of NSW, which has 35 paintings by Moore. This stunning, Impressionistic work was exhibited at the New Art Salon in Sydney in 1922.
