At a very early age, Michiels trained under influential painter Flori Van Acker at the Bruges Fine Art Academy, graduating into the last wave of the important 'Bruges School' of Impressionists. He also studied under one of my favourite artists at the Ghent Academy, Jean Delville, and exhibited widely as part of the Contemporary Art Circle, which he co-founded.
