Krutsay was a prominent Hungarian Genre painter. He studied at the Design School in Budapest under the legendary genre painter, Károly Lotz. He then studied art with Simon Hollósy in Munich, then with Lefebvre and Fleury in Paris. From 1893 he worked in Budapest, specialising in genre pieces and portraits. Following his death, a major Retrospective of his work was held in Budapest in 1928.
