Thorpe RBA was a leading Australian Printmaker. He was best known for his intricate still life studies. He achieved major success in Britain, exhibiting at the Royal Academy alongside Arthur Streeton and George Lambert, and the British Empire Exhibition, 1924, where his work was viewed and purchased by Queen Mary of England. A member of the Society of Artists in Australia, and Royal Society of British Artists, his work is represented at the Victoria and Albert Museum, British Museum, Australian National Gallery, Art Gallery of New South Wales and the Ballarat Fine Art Gallery.
