Icart was a famous French painter, illustrator and etcher. He was best known for his glorious nudes of beautiful French ladies and his association with the Art Deco & Belle Epoque movements. In 1920 he exhibited at the Galerie Simonson in Paris, and in 1922, in New York, Galerie Belmaison, more than thirty canvases expressing an Art Deco style. As a result of this exhibition, his engravings became successful and sought after in America until 1932. His work includes more than five hundred engravings. He has also participated in the illustration of some thirty books, including a good number of those erotic subjects.
