Drysdale is an iconic Australian artist, and Australia's second most valuable artist. He won the prestigious Wynne Prize for Sofala in 1947, and represented Australia at the Venice Biennale in 1954. He was influenced by abstract and surrealist art, and "created a new vision of the Australian scene as revolutionary and influential as that of Tom Roberts". Drysdale holds the record for the fifth most expensive Australian painting ever sold; "Grandma's Sunday Walk" (1972) sold for $3million in 2017, and is one of Australia's most collectable and sought after artists.
