Dahlberg is the foremost New Zealand 'Regional Surrealist' Painter. He studied figure portraiture and landscape under the tutelage of well-known NZ painter Louise Henderson and has in turn taught art at Nelson College and what was then known as Wanganui Technical College. Working in oil Dahlberg depicts the New Zealand landscape in a unique, stylised manner with trademark texturing of the sky. There is a calm sense of spaciousness in his paintings, a sense of stillness and peace. Dahlberg’s fresh approach to the traditional genre of landscape has long made him one of New Zealand’s leading artists.
