Nevinson was an influential English figure and landscape painter, etcher, lithographer and one of the most famous war artists. He studied at the Slade School of Art and Academie Julien, befriending Picasso, Modigliani and Severini. Back in London he befriended the radical writer and artist Wyndham Lewis and established the important London Group of Artists in 1914. He served in World War I, and he used his horrific experiences as the subject matter for a series of powerful paintings which used the machine aesthetic of Futurism and the influence of Cubism to great effect. Widely known as one of England's greatest and most important 20th century artists, his works are the cornerstone of most British Art Institutions, and are highly sought after.
