Evelyn Monette Baxter was born in Melbourne, and a studied under legendary New Zealand War Artist, Harold Septimus Power. In her time, she was regarded as one of Australia's premier still life painters, and was the subject of countless National news articles as early as the mid 1940s. She exhibited alongside the likes of Will Ashton, Lionel Lindsay and Power himself. Her works are represented in several important Institutions and collections in Australia.
