Boyd is a famous Australian artist. He was recognised on the International stage from the mid to late 20th century, with work ranging from impressionist renderings of Australian landscape to starkly expressionist figuration. He is one of the highest valued Australian artists, and is represented in all major National Galleries in Australia and in the UK. His renowned 'Bride' series paintings regularly fetch over $1million per work. Boyd was a member of the Antipodeans, a group of Melbourne painters that also included Clifton Pugh, John Brack, Robert Dickerson, John Perceval and Charles Blackman. He is also part of the Boyd family artistic dynasty that includes painters, sculptors, architects and other arts professionals. This incredible piece is one of the finest examples of his 'Shoalhaven' series, a series which lasted from the early 1980s until his death, painted on his property in Bundanon, and comes with esteemed provenance.
