Harriet Elizabeth (Winn) Albury is a forgotten Australian commercial artist, muralist, watercolourist and portrait painter (and cousin of Henry Lawson). She studied art at Sydney Technical College and “in the late 1920s travelled to the United States with her sister Ethel. She worked as a commercial artist in California and studied at the Mary Hopkins Academy of Fine Arts in San Francisco. She also worked at a large decorating firm in Los Angeles. She returned to Australia around 1950 and worked as a commercial artist for several Sydney department stores, including Bebarfalds, Grace Bros and Anthony Hordern’s.” Surprisingly, her works are represented in only in the Sydney Living Museums.
