Angela Else Adler is a forgotten, pioneering Austrian Secessionist. She studied under renowned Czech genre painter, Franz Thiele, at the Academy Of Fine Arts in Prague, then continued her education in Paris. She exhibited as part of the groundbreaking Vienna Secession in 1906 & 1907 alongside artists such as Gustav Klimt & Egon Schiele; one of the few female artists accepted into the collective. She was best known for her landscape paintings, but also genre painting, primarily with Austrian and Italian perspectives. She also travelled and painted throughout Bohemia in Germany. She was a member of the Association of Austrian Women Artists (VBKÖ), and participated in their exhibitions at the Vienna Künstlerhaus until 1927. She was founder of the artists' home in Ollersbach, where, despite the most modest means, artists from all associations found opportunities to relax and work. From 1911 until her death she was a member of the working committee of the VBKÖ annual exhibitions, from 1913 until the early 1920s she served as secretary. Her works are represented in several important Viennese Collections, including the Vienna City Museum.
